The L.A. Amp Show Report

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Hey guys, Neal here. Here’s my overview of The L.A. Amp Show last weekend.

I met with JP Cervoni, he had our Rockready Volo on display. I tried out the amps he was using there, Mezzabarba (big Italian name) and they rock, def a big rock tone. I got to play a ’61 Strat that Jeff Beck wanted to buy for $70k but was turned down (so they say).

I ran into Larry Mitchell there too and introduced myself, took some picks, super nice and cool dude.

Something The L.A. Amp Show did new this year is that Guitar Center rented out all 3 banquet rooms and basically made a mini GC with high end boutique amps and some vintage guitars on hand. The stage was loaded with Freidman Amps.

Robbie Kreiger jammed on Sunday – Love Me Two Times and Riders on the Storm – with a full band in the GC room. They gave away a Kemper Amp (they’re around $2k) and everybody wanted one, the funny thing is the winning name drawn was Bob Bradshaw (rack systems) but he wasn’t in the room so he didn’t win. Everybody was like “awww, c’mon!!” Everytime they drew a new name everyone shouted “he’s not here!”

Mooer Audio introduced several new products at the show and was delighted to be joined by two artists that demonstrated the different product lines. The full line up of the popular Mooer Micro Series was displayed in the booth. Mooer is the leader in micro pedals – many of them are based on vintage sounds, others are unique to Mooer. All of them have the excellent Mooer design and tone, feature True Bypass and are housed in a tough metal shell.

One of our artists, Neil Zaza, gave a very passionate, awesome performance showcasing his signature pedal – The Juicer.

Artist Jose de Castro demo’d the brand new Spark series as well as many of our different amps and multi-effect pedals.

The Frankfurt Muzikmesse is always an exciting show and a great place to meet with our suppliers. This year was no exception as our musical partners unveiled many new and exciting products.

Many of our suppliers don’t exhibit at NAMM so Muzikmesse is a great opportunity for us to see new products and discuss new ideas. Richard Cocco, Taurus, and Mooer displayed this year at Muzikmess.

We are really looking forward to the next few months when these products arrive at our warehouse.

Taurus is celebrating 30 years of making guitar and bass gear this year. And to show us that they are not going to rest they are debuting several new pedals and amplifiers. You can see a short video of some of the new product from Taurus here.

Brooklyn Bowl Rolls On

brooklynGtrShow2013For the third consecutive year www.Osiamo.com will participate in the Spring New York Guitar Show on April 7th. From 10am to 5pm @ The Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg. Admission is free and all are welcome to buy, sell and trade. Osiamo.com will display Mooer Micro pedals, Pickboy picks, R.Cocco strings and Taurus guitar and bass pedals.

Osiamo.com will occupy it’s usual position on the Big Stage and will be able to accept credit cards at this show for the first time!

Of particular interest this year will be the Taurus StompHeads. The StompHead series of amps are a revolutionary way of thinking about a guitar amp placing all the controls at your feet. The the top of the line is the StompHead 4SL featuring an analog, switchable 40/70 watt amplifier integrated into a floor pedal. The 4SL incorporates 2 x 12ax7 tubes in the preamp section and has 3 gain stages. Its big brother is the 4HG (High Gain version) which produces a more modern compressed tone. The range is rounded out by the 1BL and 3BL. Both with a few less features and power but at a more affordable price point.

Mike Bendy on Bass of Doom at NAMM 2013

One really really very cool thing happened this year at NAMM 2013 at our booth. Mike Bendy walked into our booth on Saturday afternoon, plugged in the Bass of Doom and played a hot number with his brother John Bendy (The Bendy Effect). Watching Mike in the audience was Felix Pastorius and Robert Trujillo and many others! In all our collective years of going to and attending NAMM this is one of The Top Highlights! It was a very special moment to hear Jaco’s bass in our booth.

A very special Thank You! to Robert Trujillo and Felix Pastorius. And thanks to the Bendy Brothers for some very smoking performances.

John Bendy @ NAMM 2013

John Bendy is just as smoking on guitar as his kid brother is on bass! We were lucky to get to hear him a couple of times each day in our booth @ NAMM. Listen to him performing with his brother Mike at our NAMM booth. John’s playing through our Taurus Stomp Head 4SL and some Mooer micro effect pedals.

Good stuff!

Thanks a bunch, John! We’re looking forward to hearing more of your playing in the future.
